The fascinating terroir of oyster fossils, marl and calcareous clay soil has allowed Château Grivière to consistently produce the finest Médoc Cru Bourgeois wines for over 3 centuries..
Château Grivière is vinified in a powerful fruit-forward style, with ripe dark fruits, balanced by a rich, round and chewy palate, with a perfumed nose of orange blossom and delicate spices, and smooth silky tannins.
With Merlot (60%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (40%) growing this unique terroir, we are able to produce rich and complex wines with minimal intervention, winning awards and recognition around the world.
Our philosophy is somewhat different to many in Bordeaux. In 1990 we built the largest underground cellar in the region, locally known as "The Cathedral", where we have the ability to stock over 10 separate vintages, releasing the wines as the become ready to drink.
Château Grivière 2000 and 2007 were awarded the coveted ‘Coupe de Coeur’ by Guide Hachette, and 2001 and 2002 were both awarded Gold Medals. Each vintage consistenty scores *** in Decanter tastings, and our 2005 vintage recently scored 90 points in the International Wine Challenge.
Today vintages from 2002 to 2006 are currently being enjoyed in over 40 countries around the world.
